DFA, pSaysay Launch ASEAN 50 Posters
FOR nine days, between July 31 and August 8, the Facebook pages of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 2017 National Organizing Committee of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN will generate special Project Saysay posters featuring the memory, message, and the founding vision of the five ASEAN founding fathers.
Entitled "Common Vision," This unique endeavor of Project Saysay was brainchild of Stacy Danika Alcantara, Foreign Service Officer IV, Public and Media Affairs, DFA Office of Public Diplomacy. The blurb shared by the DFA states that "in a special collaboration between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Project Saysay, we take you back 50 years ago as we revisit the statements of Adam Malik of Indonesia, Narciso R. Ramos of the Philippines, Tun Abdul Razak of Malaysia, S. Rajaratnam of Singapore, and Thanat Khoman of Thailand which bare their dream of a regional community where every citizen is able to live the life that he or she aspires for."
The DFA-Project Saysay team focused only the generation of online posters to the First Ministerial Meeting document on 8 August 1967. In that document contains the responses to the establishment of ASEAN of its founding fathers.
This initiative of Project Saysay was the second of its kind. The first time Project Saysay embarked in featuring foreign thinkers and historical personalities was in October 2016, in solidarity with the founding anniversary of the United Nations.
During the anniversary program of Project Saysay last May, National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairman Rene R. Escalante challenged Project Saysay to spread its wings by bringing to Philippine schools as well valuable and relevant words of wisdom of humanity.
A total of 22 designs, the ASEAN 50 posters were archived for posterity in Project Saysay's official page.
