Bulacan Sponsors a Project Saysay Honoree Portrait

The Bulacan Provincial Government, Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Bulacan State University (BulSU) sponsored the portrait of Isidoro Torres, the acclaimed father of the Philippine Revolution in Bulacan, to be included in the pantheon of Project Saysay Inc. The portrait, which was painted by Bulakenyo painter and Project Saysay benefactor Mark Villanueva, was turned over to Billy Joe B. Marciano, Design Director of Project Saysay, during the National Flag Day celebration in the Bulacan Provincial Capitol, Malolos, Bulacan on 28 May 2021.

The turnover was officiated by Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Vice-Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, and Dr. Allen Maroma, Director for Development and Innovation of BulSU. It was witnessed by Bulacan Board Members Jong Ople and Mina Fermin, Provincial Administrator Antonia Constantino, and Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office Head Dr. Eliseo S. dela Cruz.

The Torres' portrait is the 32nd in Project Saysay's pantheon. The Project Saysay research team will announce the appropriate quotation to be applied in its poster design. Once approved by the Project Saysay Board, it may now be included among the posters distributed to various classrooms, libraries, and institutions, here and abroad. The formal unveiling of the portrait is yet to be scheduled subject to health protocols for this pandemic. The artwork will also be featured in SINEliksik Bulacan Online Exhibit and Conference and SINEliksik Bulacan Heritage Book Vol. III ("Bayani ng Kanyang Panahon, Inspirasyon Natin Ngayon!") to be published by the Provincial Government.
